Opening a Mini and typing your first question is the fastest way to see what it can do for your day to day work.
When to use this
You've just signed in for the first time and want to see what a Mini can do before you rely on it for real work.
You need a quick answer about someone you support instead of digging through paper files or another system.
You're getting ready for a shift, handover, or family update and want a place to start instead of a blank page.
Step 1: Make sure you're signed in
Once you're signed in, you will see the welcome screen:
Step 2: Click on your participant's Mini
In the sidebar, find the person you want to ask about and select their Mini. If you support several people, look for their name in the list. If you can't find someone you expect to see, check with your workspace admin, as you may not have access to their Mini yet.
Step 2: Type or speak your question
Type your question into the chat toolbox at the bottom of the screen, using plain English just as you'd ask a colleague. For example: "Summarise progress notes from this week"
Prefer talking to typing? You can use speech to text → instead. Tap the microphone icon, speak your question, and press send (or hit enter) when you're ready.
Click on the small circle button with the arrow up (the send message button):
Step 3: Review the response and its citations
The Mini replies in the chat window, drawing only on the records connected to that person. Small citation numbers appear next to the response, linking back to the specific record each detail came from. Click a citation, or the citations button at the end of the message, to see the source and confirm it for yourself.
If the answer isn't quite what you expected, ask a follow up question in the same chat. You don't need to start over. A Mini remembers the conversation as it goes.
⚠️ Always review before you rely on it: A Mini's answer is a starting point, not the final word. Check the citations behind anything that will inform a care decision, go into a report, or be shared with a family member.
Tips for your first question
Start specific. A narrow question like "has she had any incidents this week" gets a faster, more accurate answer than something broad like "tell me about her."
Not sure what to ask? Try one of the prompt recommendations → in the chat area to get going with a single click.

ℹ️ Good to know: Your chats with a Mini are private. No one else on your team can see your conversation, even though the underlying records are shared. If a response doesn't include citation numbers, it usually means the Mini doesn't have enough records for that person yet. Learn how to view the timeline →
