A skill turns a workflow your team does often into a one-click task. It's a reusable, named procedure that a Mini or the workspace agent runs on demand, like writing a progress note, preparing an audit, or drafting a particular report. You set out the steps once, and everyone in your workspace can run them the same way every time.
Once a skill is active, it appears in the chat for the people who need it, so a support worker can produce a consistent handover or incident write-up without composing a detailed prompt from scratch. To see how your team runs skills day to day, read Using skills in chat.

When to use this
A task is done the same way every time. A progress note or shift handover that always needs the same structure is a good candidate for a skill.
You want everyone to follow the same format. An incident write-up that should match your organisation's template stays consistent when it's built into a skill.
There's a document your team produces regularly. You can attach your template and have the skill work from it.
How it works
Skills live in Settings. Open Settings and select Skills from the Workspace menu. From there you create a skill, give it a name and a short description, write the instructions the agent follows, and choose whether it's for Minis or the workspace agent. You can also attach files, like an output template. A skill starts as a draft while you work on it, and becomes available in chat once you submit it.
Step 1: Create a new skill
Open Settings and select Skills, then select New skill (the + button). A new draft called "Untitled skill" opens, and it autosaves as you go, so you won't lose your work.
Step 2: Fill in the details
On the Details tab, complete the following:
What should we call this skill? Give it a clear, task-based name, for example "Progress note writer".
In a few words, what does it do? A short description, such as "Turns shift observations into a structured progress note". This also helps the Mini know when the skill fits.
Who is it for? Choose Minis so the skill appears inside a person's Mini, or Workspace agent so it appears in the workspace agent that works across the people you support.
Instructions. Write the procedure the agent follows when someone runs the skill. Lay it out as clear steps, the same way you would brief a new team member.
Step 3: Attach files (optional)
Open the Assets tab and drop in any files the skill should use, such as a Word template it fills in or a reference document. PDF, Word, images, HTML, Markdown, and text files up to 30 MB are accepted.
Step 4: Submit to make it available
Once the title, description, and instructions are filled in, select Submit. The skill becomes Active and appears in chat for the people it's for.
You can come back any time. Select a skill to Edit it, and your changes are held until you Save, so a half-finished edit never goes live. You can Archive a skill you're no longer using and Restore it later if you need it again.
ā ļø Skills produce drafts, not final records: A skill sets out the steps, but a person always reviews what the Mini produces before it's saved or shared. Write your instructions clearly, and let your team know that skill outputs still need checking, the same as any other AI response.
Tips for good skills
Name it for the task. "Progress note writer" or "Monthly funding summary" is easier to find in chat than a vague name.
Write instructions as steps. Spell out what to include and in what order, as if you were briefing a new starter. The clearer the steps, the more consistent the result.
Attach a template. If your team fills in the same document each time, add it as an asset so the skill works from your format.
Test it before wider use. Submit the skill, run it in a chat yourself, then refine the instructions if you need to.
ā¹ļø Good to know: Only Active skills appear in chat. Drafts stay in Settings for you to keep working on, and archived skills are hidden from chat but can be restored. Once a skill is active, anyone who can access that Mini or the workspace agent can run it, so there's nothing extra to share.
