When you dictate a message or record a session, Minikai has to know which language and accent to listen for. Out of the box it listens in English (Australia), or English (United Kingdom) if your workspace is based in the UK. If that isn't how you speak, you can set your own, and it takes effect the next time you use your voice.
Getting this right makes a real difference to accuracy, particularly for names, place names, and medication names, which are exactly the words you least want mistranscribed.
When to use this
You speak English with an accent Minikai keeps mishearing, and a closer regional variant would do better.
You work in a language other than English, and want your dictation to come out in that language.
You've moved workspace or region and the default no longer matches how you speak.
Names keep coming out wrong in your dictated messages or recorded sessions.
How it works
The setting lives on your own profile in Settings, under Dictation and transcription. It applies to both ways of using your voice: dictating a message, and recording a session. There's one setting for both, and it saves as soon as you choose.
Step 1: Open your profile settings
Go to Settings and open your profile. Look for the Dictation and transcription card.
Step 2: Choose your language
Select the Language field to open the list. You can scroll it, or start typing to search, either by name ("Greek", "Arabic") or by its language code ("el-GR", "ar-AE"). Regional variants are listed separately, so English (Australia), English (United Kingdom) and English (India) are each their own choice.
Pick the one that matches how you actually speak, not the language of the person you support.
Step 3: That's it
Your choice saves on its own, and Saved appears next to the heading to confirm. There's nothing to submit. The next time you dictate or record, Minikai listens in the language you chose, on any device you sign in to.
â ď¸ This sets the language, it doesn't translate: Minikai transcribes what was said, in the language it was said. Choosing Greek doesn't turn Greek speech into English, or English speech into Greek, it tells Minikai to listen for Greek. If your setting and your speech don't match, the transcript can come out badly wrong rather than slightly off, so it's worth checking the setting before an important recording.
Tips
Match the accent, not just the language. If you're a British speaker in an Australian workspace, English (United Kingdom) will handle names and places noticeably better than the default.
In a bilingual conversation, choose the language most of it is in. Minikai listens for one language at a time, so the dominant one gives you the most usable transcript.
Change it as often as you like. If you run a group in one language and write up your notes in another, switch the setting between the two, it takes a couple of seconds.

âšď¸ Good to know: This is a personal setting, not a workspace one. Changing it affects only your own dictation and recordings, never your colleagues', and it doesn't change the language of the Minikai interface or the Mini's replies. Until you choose one, you're on your workspace's default, which is Australian English, or British English for UK workspaces.
