Why Minikai exists
In care settings, time is precious. Yet large parts of the day are often taken up by navigating systems, finding information, and documenting work that has already been done.
Minikai exists to reduce this burden. It supports staff with the parts of work that take time but do not require human judgement, so people can focus on care, relationships, and outcomes.
Minikai and Minis
Minikai is the overall platform. Within Minikai, you use Minis.
A Mini is a person-centred AI agent, centred around one individual’s data. Each Mini brings together the information that has been connected for that person and provides responses in that specific context.
Minis support staff by offering personalised responses, which may include:
Plain English explanations
Multilingual responses, where supported
Clear summaries tailored to the question being asked
Each Mini reflects existing permissions and access rules, ensuring information is shared appropriately.
How Minikai returns time back to care
Minikai saves time in three key ways.
Information retrieval
Minikai makes it easier to find the right information without searching across multiple systems or documents. Staff can ask questions in natural language and get answers grounded in approved data.
This reduces time spent looking for information and lowers the risk of missing important details.
Writing assistance
Minikai helps with drafting and refining written work, such as notes, summaries, or communications. This reduces repetitive writing while keeping language clear, respectful, and aligned with care standards.
Staff remain responsible for reviewing and finalising all written outputs.
Decision support and analysis
Minikai helps staff make sense of complex information by summarising, comparing, and highlighting what matters. This supports clearer thinking and more confident decisions, without replacing professional judgement. For example, a staff member might use a Mini to quickly understand recent changes in a person’s situation before a shift.
How Minis work
Minis read and interpret the data they have been given access to, then respond in natural language. They can only use information they are connected to, and their responses reflect the quality and completeness of the underlying records.
Safety, privacy, and responsibility
Minikai is designed for care environments where trust, dignity, and duty of care are essential.
That means:
Minis only access approved data
Existing permissions and group access are respected
Limitations are intentional and visible
Minikai supports human judgement, it does not replace it
Minikai is a support platform, not a decision-maker.
What Minikai is not
Minikai:
Does not replace professional judgement
Is not a source of truth on its own
Does not invent or assume information
Important decisions should always be supported by original records and professional oversight.
Learning more about Minikai
For a more comprehensive overview of Minikai, including its design principles, safeguards, and known limitations, refer to the Minikai System Card.
A system card is a transparent document that explains how an AI system is intended to be used. It describes the system’s purpose, capabilities, limitations, and the safety and governance measures in place. System cards help organisations build informed trust and use AI responsibly.
