Using Speech to Text

Speech to Text lets you talk directly to a Mini instead of typing. It can save time, especially when you are on the move or juggling multiple tasks.

When to use Speech to Text

Speech to Text is helpful when:

  • Your hands are busy β€” for example, during or right after a care interaction

  • You want to capture thoughts while they're fresh, before the details fade

  • You're describing something as it happens

  • Typing is difficult or slow

You can always edit or add detail after the Mini writes out your words.

How to use Speech to Text

  1. Open the Mini you want to chat with.

  2. Tap the microphone icon in the Mini toolbox.

  1. Speak clearly. When you're finished, tap the tick mark to confirm.

  1. Your spoken words will appear as text in the message field.

  2. Review the text, make any corrections, then press Send.

⚠️ Always review before sending: Speech-to-text can occasionally mishear names, clinical terms, or words spoken in noisy environments. Take a moment to check the transcription before sending β€” especially if what you've said will become part of a care record.

πŸ’‘ Tips:

  • If something looks off, you can correct it before sending, or edit and format after sending the message to the Mini.

  • A stable internet connection helps β€” speech-to-text needs to be online to work.

  • Try to avoid talking over background noise when you can.

Privacy and safety

Minikai only records the audio you choose to send through Speech to Text. Your spoken words are converted to text, then processed just like a typed message. No background audio or other sounds are captured.
